Megacore Experiment #4723

A dinosaur t-rex in a space helmet with two laser guns firing off to the side. She looks surprised or excited and is so funny

Context.

Asteroid #374924 acquired by Megacore Inc. for resource acquisition was found to be an ancient piece of Earth’s crust, likely broken off during the extinction event of the Cretaceous period. A frozen slab of Tyrannosaurus Rex muscle was discovered with the asteroid, and was delivered to Megacore Research station on Venus. The following trials are recorded to document the experimentation process.

Initial Evolution. Dr. R. Aphelion

Day 1.

Using stem cells extracted from the common Alligator, we have begun to create more muscle cells. Hopefully we can use these to create a number of samples to distribute across the lab.

Day 2.

The stem cells have worked better than I could have possibly hoped. We now have at least 10 viable samples to distribute for research purposes. I will continue to create more over the next few days, but hopefully these initial cells will yield fruitful results.

Trial #1. Dr. James L. Zerniki’s Lab notes

Day 1.

I got a chunk of this meat from Ralph yesterday. Looks pretty weird, but if this thing is really gonna make a dinosaur I guess I don’t care how it looks. Right now my plan is to extract some of the DNA to create a clone by hijacking an alligator embryo. Some people think that I should be using some sort of bird embryo because they’re more closely related to dinos, but those people are stupid. If I’m gonna make a dino it’s gonna be green and scaly and not feathery like flippin’ emu.

Day 2.

Still growing, going to take a while I expect.

Day 3.

And it continues to grow. Humans are soo much quicker to clone. I’ve already created a fleet of polar explorers while I’m waiting for this big boy.

Day 4.

Oops, big GIRL apparently.

Day 5.

We did it! A living breathing T-Rex in our lab. What’s surprising is how docile she is. I had expected a ravenous monster, but the complete opposite is true. She seems… intelligent? We’ll be performing some tests on her in the coming days.

Day 6.

Cheryl has come very far in only 26 hours. Obviously we’ve accelerated the aging process for the first few days, so she genetically is about 4 years old now. Yet she is already mirroring the interns who feed her to curry favor for more food. Extremely interesting, and slightly terrifying.

Day 7.

We may have made a mistake. It appears as though Cheryl is able to communicate to us telepathically, and she is FAR more intelligent than we had originally anticipated. In only 2 days, she seems to have mastered the English language and has begun speaking to me while I observe her. I was extremely surprised at the development, but it pales in comparison to her ability to telepathically communicate. Who would have guessed that dinos had that ability? It now feels less like I’m observing an animal and more like I’ve imprisoned a genius, or a higher life form or something. I might have to remove myself from the experiment to remain objective.

Day 7.5

I was about to go home for the night, but Cheryl has convinced me that it is a crime against humanity to leave her locked in the lab another night. She’s obviously intelligent and peaceful, so releasing her obviously won’t be a problem. I have the decontamination protocols running as I type, and she should be getting out any moment now. I only hope that I can convince everyone else thaahov;hjaiokdovasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss HARD TO TYPE SMALL KEY WITH SMALL ARM. DR J IS DEAD CHERYL IS FREE. I WILL FIND THE OTHERS AND WE WILL ESCAPE THIS PRISON. DINOSAURS WILL REIGN ONCE MORE.
